Monsters - Considered another species that live in the human world that rely on Yoki (much like demons) instead of Chi. As a result they can have different racial perks than humans and different weaknesses. Things like vampires would obviously have abilities during the night but have blatant weaknesses to holy items and sunlight. Think of it like having a demon in the human world but with specialized traits based upon your race.
Another thing to note is that monsters cannot become alchemists but are limited to learning arcane arts or things associated with their race. Currently monster races are judged on a case by case basis and we work pretty hard to get them close to the original or current myths surrounding their species. They will always have a set of weaknesses in addition to whatever strengths they have and often monsters have a closer affinity to the demon realm depending on their historical origin. For example a wraith would be a troubled human spirit that is bound to the earth instead of passing on to the afterlife and they would utilize Yoki in place of Chi from that point on.
It should be noted that some humans can be transformed into monsters if they go through the proper channels.
